TIPP Page Redirects
This page belongs to TIPP CORE. It lets an administrator send users who open a standard TIPP page to a customer-specific replacement page instead, without changing the standard page. It is used by TIPP administrators or TICE-IT consultants when a customer has its own version of a page, named cs followed by the customer number and an underscore, and the menus and links should open that version.
Before you start
- You must be a Synergy administrator. Other users see “Access denied. Administrator privileges required.” and no form.
- A valid TIPP license is required. Without it you see “License Error: …” and “No Valid TIPP Licence found. Please validate your license via [Modules, TIPP, Setup, License].”
- The customer-specific page file must already be placed in the same folder as the standard TIPP pages, with a name that starts with cs, then the customer number, then an underscore. Only such pages can be chosen as a target. This page does not create or upload pages.
- Access to the customer page follows the TIPP Page Security rules of the standard page it replaces, also when it is opened directly. Set up page security for the standard page.
How to redirect a standard page to a customer page
- Open TIPP Page Redirects. The Page Redirects list shows every standard TIPP page in the folder.
- If the customer page was added recently and is not offered, click Rescan Pages. The page list and the choices are refreshed.
- Find the standard page in the Page column.
- In the Redirect To column on that row, choose the customer page.
- Click Save. A message “Redirects updated for N page(s).” confirms how many pages changed. The Current Redirect column now shows the chosen page.
- Open the standard page as a normal user to test. The user lands on the customer page. Anything after the question mark in the original address is passed on unchanged.
How to remove a redirect
- Find the page in the list.
- In Redirect To choose “(Standard page – no redirect)”.
- Click Save. The page goes back to serving the standard page and Current Redirect shows “(standard page)”.
How to change a redirect to another customer page
- Choose the new customer page in Redirect To on the same row.
- Click Save. Each standard page has only one redirect, so the new choice replaces the old one.
Screen guide
Page Redirects list
- Page: the name of the standard TIPP page, without the file extension. Read only.
- Type: Workspace for pages whose name starts with TIPP_workspace_, Transaction for pages whose name starts with TIPP_Transactions, otherwise Other. It can carry a warning: “(file not found)” means a redirect is stored for a page that is no longer in the folder, and “(no PageGuard call – redirect ignored)” means this page is not able to honour a redirect, so a redirect set on it has no effect. Read only.
- Current Redirect: what is stored now. It shows “(standard page)” when there is no redirect. Otherwise it shows the customer page name, plus “(inactive)” when the stored redirect is switched off and “(file not found – standard page is served)” when the customer page file no longer exists. Read only.
- Redirect To: a drop-down. “(Standard page – no redirect)” is the default and means no redirect. The other choices are the customer pages (cs, customer number, underscore) found in the folder. The value cannot be left empty.
Buttons
- Save: stores the changes. Only rows where you changed Redirect To are updated. If nothing changed it says “No changes to save.” It is hidden when you do not have access or the license is missing.
- Rescan Pages: reads the folder again so new or removed pages show up. Unsaved choices are not saved by it. Hidden in the same cases as Save.
- Close: closes the page.
How this works section
- A short explanation on the page itself: every standard page is listed, pick a customer page under Redirect To to send users there, pick “(Standard page – no redirect)” to serve the standard page again.
Rules to know
- A customer page is never redirected again, so redirects do not chain.
- If the customer page file is missing, the redirect is ignored and users get the standard page instead of an error.
- A redirect only works on pages that perform the TIPP page check. All standard TIPP pages do. A page that does not is marked in the Type column.
Messages and what to do
- “Access denied. Administrator privileges required.” You are not an administrator. Ask an administrator to make the change.
- “License Error: …” with “No Valid TIPP Licence found. Please validate your license via [Modules, TIPP, Setup, License].” Fix the license on the License page.
- “Redirects updated for N page(s).” The save worked.
- “No changes to save.” You did not change any Redirect To value.
- “Nothing to save.” There was no list data to save. Click Rescan Pages and try again.
- “No TIPP_*.aspx pages found in this folder.” The folder holds no standard TIPP pages, so the list is empty. Ask your TIPP administrator to check the installation.
- “Failed to scan the docs folder: …” The page could not read the folder. Contact TICE-IT with the message.
- “Skipped page with unsupported name: …” That row was not saved because its page name is not an accepted standard page name.
- “Invalid redirect target for [page]: [target]”. The chosen target is not an existing customer page. Click Rescan Pages and choose again.
- “Failed to save [page]: …” Saving that row failed. Retry, and contact TICE-IT if it stays.
- “Could not create/verify …” or “Failed to read …” followed by a detail. The page could not prepare or read its stored redirects. Contact TICE-IT with the message.
What you cannot do here
- You cannot create, upload, edit or delete customer pages. You only choose from those already in the folder.
- You cannot redirect to a standard TIPP page or to any page whose name is not cs, customer number, underscore.
- You cannot set more than one redirect per page, and you cannot switch a stored redirect to inactive from this page. Choosing “(Standard page – no redirect)” removes it.
- You cannot redirect a page that does not perform the TIPP page check.
- Non-administrators cannot use this page at all.

Common questions
What is TIPP Page Redirects for?
It sends users who open a standard TIPP page to a customer-specific version of that page. The standard page itself is not changed.
Who can use this page?
Administrators only. Others see “Access denied. Administrator privileges required.”
How do I set up a redirect?
Find the standard page in the Page column, choose the customer page in Redirect To, and click Save.
How do I remove a redirect?
Choose “(Standard page – no redirect)” in Redirect To for that page and click Save.
Why is my customer page not in the Redirect To list?
Only files in the same folder whose name starts with cs, the customer number and an underscore are offered. Check the file name and location, then click Rescan Pages.
Why does Current Redirect say “file not found – standard page is served”?
The customer page that was chosen no longer exists in the folder. Users get the standard page. Restore the file or remove the redirect.
What does “(no PageGuard call – redirect ignored)” mean?
That page cannot honour a redirect. A redirect saved for it will do nothing. All standard TIPP pages normally support redirects.
What does “(inactive)” mean in Current Redirect?
A redirect is stored but switched off, so users get the standard page. Saving a new choice for that page replaces it with an active one.
Do links with parameters still work after a redirect?
Yes. The parameters of the original address are passed to the customer page unchanged.
Who can open the customer page?
The same people who may open the standard page it replaces, according to TIPP Page Security, even when the customer page is opened directly.
What does Rescan Pages do?
It reads the folder again so newly added or removed pages show up. It does not save your choices.
